• Meet Velvet.

  Velvet loves Halloween.

  The glowing pumpkins.

  The costumes.

  The cool night air.

  The little blue candies waiting inside her bucket.

  But Halloween can also bring a lot of things that aren't familiar.

  Different houses.

  Different places.

  And Velvet has always found something special in the things she already knows.

  Especially one thing.

  Her cape.

  Most people see a beautiful black-and-blue vampire cape.

  Velvet feels something entirely different.

  Hidden inside the lining is a piece of the blanket she's had since she was very little.

  As Velvet grew, the blanket eventually became too small and worn to carry everywhere.

  But the comfort it gave her didn't become too small.

  So instead of asking Velvet to leave it behind, a piece of her childhood blanket was carefully sewn into the inside of her cape.

  Now it travels with her.

  When somewhere feels unfamiliar, when Halloween gets a little louder than she expected, or when the world simply starts feeling like too much, Velvet reaches beneath the edge of her cape.

  Her fingers find that familiar piece of fabric.

  She rubs it gently between them.

  She knows its texture.

  She knows its softness.

  She knows exactly how it feels.
